Organization

The United Association is predominantly a craft union, with nearly 90 percent of its active membership employed in the construction industry. Work performed by members includes construction, renovation, expansion and repair of facilities in every sector of the economy. Members perform high purity process piping installations in pharmaceutical, chemical and semiconductor plants. They install piping systems, plumbing fixtures, heating, air conditioning and ventilation systems and power generation facilities. Their work is also found in schools, libraries and other government buildings, as well as single-family homes, hotels, high-rise apartment buildings, condominiums and virtually every place that people live, work and play. The United Association also provides comprehensive training for apprentices, journeymen and trade teachers through fully-accredited institutions of higher learning. This is a formal program that provides not only industry-accepted certifications for pipe trades workers, but also allows members to pursue Associate's, Bachelor's and Master's degrees in a variety of subject areas.
