American College President Study

About

ACE's American College President Study (ACPS) has long served the higher education community as the most comprehensive, in-depth, and frequently cited source of information about the college presidency and pathways to higher education leadership. The survey has been conducted approximately every five years since 1986, with the most recent edition and an accompanying interactive data explorer released in 2017.

With generous support from the TIAA Institute, ACPS continues to capture important data on presidential demographics, search and selection processes, career trajectories, and duties and responsibilities—with a focus on the intersectional lenses of race and gender. Data analysis has begun for the 2022 American College President Survey, and the results will be published in a forthcoming report, The American College President: 2023 Edition.
