Description

Objective:

The objective of the course is to cover the intricacies of all four steps of IPB in depth and how it is used as a tool to determine information about the environment along with adversarial capabilities, vulnerabilities, and probable courses of action. This workshop is heavy on practical application in which students will systematically perform each step of the IPB process in order to analyze the adversary and environment in a specific geographic region, all in an effort to ultimately reduce uncertainty within the battlespace for the decision maker.

  • Explain the IPB process
  • Understand the different elements that comprise the steps of the IPB process
  • Understand the purpose of, and how to develop each of the areas of step two of the IPB process IOT determine how the operational environment influence friendly and adversary COAs
  • Understand how to evaluate an adversary through the use of Order of Battle files, adversary models and an analysis of their capabilities
  • Identify an adversary’s objective and desired end state and articulate that assessment into a Course of Action (COA) the commander and staff can use during planning
