Organization

The U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Service (INS), a participating organization of the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC), provides basic training for border patrol agents through the Border Patrol Academy and for immigration inspectors, immigration agents, special agents (criminal investigators), deportation officers, and detention enforcement officers through the Immigration Officer Academy. Basic training programs are conducted at the FLETC sites in Glynco, Georgia and Charleston, South Carolina. The INS Research and Evaluation Section serves as a resource to both academies in educational technology and methodology. The staff also maintains liaison with area colleges and universities and with the FLETC Office of Training, Training Management Division (TMD). The Administrative Section sets up and operates all administrative systems and procedures to serve the instructional staff and students. Varied administrative and academic activities enable the INS to provide a quality learning experience for trainees.
