Description

Objective:

The course objective is to learn and apply basic project management concepts and behavioral skills including triple constraint, planning, scheduling, work breakdown structures, and project control; understand practical ways to utilize project management skills; gain insights into problem solving and persuasive presentation of solutions; and increase awareness of how individuals work as team members and as individuals on a specific project.

Learning Outcomes:

  • discuss project selection criteria and method of project evaluation (cost-benefit analysis, feasibility study)
  • identify the ten project management knowledge areas
  • recognize the first six project management knowledge areas with key inputs, tools and techniques, and outputs: integration, scope, time, cost, quality, and human resources
  • demonstrate the interplay between the triple constraint (scope, time, cost) in the project management plan
  • identify the role and responsibilities of the project manager and project team
  • articulate the importance of project management
