Description

Objective:

The course objective is to enable participants to assess their leadership potential and make informed career choices aligned with their strengths, preferences and values. The seminar combines lecture/ theory and structured feedback on key leadership competencies. Students are provided a framework for understanding themselves (and others) and their fit within their organization. Students are provided with the tools, knowledge, insights, and motivation they need to develop and implement strategic development plans that serve to enhance their areas of strength, minimize critical weak areas, and improve job fit. Students leave the seminar with action plans which target specific competencies and include steps for continued professional and personal development.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Describe how personal and professional behaviors impact organizational effectiveness
  • Demonstrate oral and written communication skills
  • Apply a framework for more effective work and life choices which includes issues such as communication styles, learning styles, personality, health, skills, values, attitudes, and preferences
  • Evaluate their unique mix of strengths and weaknesses in areas such as interpersonal effectiveness, problem solving, decision making, resilience, and conflict management
  • Plan specifically for improvements needed for further career development
  • Analyze all learning outcomes listed and their impact on organizational culture and work dynamics
  • Synthesize all assessment, coaching feedback, learning, and self-reflection insights from the week to develop a plan to improve professional effectiveness which is drawn from increased self-knowledge and a commitment to continued development
