Description

Objective:

The US History I examination is designed to measure examinees' knowledge and skills in U.S. History up to and including Reconstruction. The knowledge and skills measured are consistent with those typically taught in intermediate-level college courses and are consistent with college-level difficulty and complexity. The assessment reflects a balance between the topical/ chronological information and critical/analytic skills essential to an understanding of U.S. History.

Skills Measured:

This examination requires students to demonstrate an understanding of the following topics: pre-colonial America; colonial North America (1690-1754); the American Revolution and formation of the Republic (1754-1790); the early American Republic (1791-1815); antebellum America (1815-1865); and the Civil War and Reconstruction.
