Description

Objective:

The course objective is to obtain the knowledge and skills necessary to perform the duties of a Weld Technician.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Demonstrate an understanding of the types of resistance welding, weld parameters, various testing methods and troubleshooting
  • Manipulate, program and troubleshoot robots used to perform arc, spot and material handling in automated robotic work cells
  • Perform fixture adjustments in order to maintain customer part specifications
  • Safely setup, maintain, repair and troubleshoot gas metal arc welding equipment (GMAW), resistance welders, and robots
  • Demonstrate an understanding of proper GMAW technique, recognizing and correcting common weld flaws, various metal transfer methods, setting weld parameters and preventative maintenance
