Description

Objective:

The objective of this course is to teach students professional garment construction techniques and exceptional craftsmanship in patternmaking, draping, and sewing. Students will create refined garments for their collections and build a visual reference collection of construction and garment finishing approaches. Additionally, they will produce a final garment collection of 6- 8 looks and collaboratively create one look for a fashion show or exhibit.

  • Effectively communicate design concepts and processes through visual and verbal presentations.
  • Apply advanced techniques in patternmaking, draping, and garment construction to create professional-quality garments.
  • Develop and present a cohesive personal garment collection, demonstrating refined craftsmanship and attention to detail.
  • Collaborate with peers to design and produce a group fashion show or exhibit.

  • Ruffles and Flounces: Feminine and Flirty Seam Applications - Edges, Hem Applications, Refine and adjust all six looks, and evaluating adjusting finishes, linings, and fabrics
  • Collars - Silhouetting the Neck, Stitching and Stabilizers
  • Facings - Joining Facings to Lining
  • Sleeves - Shoulder Pads, Cuffs and Wrist Finishes
  • Full Linings or Partial Linings
  • Pockets and Closures - Hems, Closures
  • Model fitting and collection line up - Make the final adjustments and complete the finishes for all six looks
  • Styling - Model make-up, hair and garment coordinated look for presentation
