Description

Objective:

The course objective is to provide an intermediate level language training comprising of grammar in context, reading comprehension, listening comprehension, transcription and translation skills. The goal is to reinforce basic and advanced grammatical concepts, as well as enhancing cultural awareness and promoting learners' critical thinking. The course exposes students to authentic ILR Level 2+ and above Russian audio, video, and written texts composed by and made for native Russian speakers.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Compose a balanced idiomatic English translation of an authentic Russian text
  • At an ILR level 2+ standard, students will be able to analyze and explain the grammatical function of roots
  • Evaluate an authentic Russian text main idea and the author's supporting arguments
  • Produce a verbatim transcript of an authentic Russian audio segment
