Description

Objective:

The course objective is to equip neutrals with mediation and other Alternate Dispute Resolution (ADR) skills. This skill set will provide basic proficiency in mediation, and facilitative conflict resolution. It is the intent of this program to provide DoD personnel with the fundamental training required for certification as DoD mediators.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Understand the Roles and Responsibilities of the Disability Program Manager (DPM), to include Special Placement Program Coordinators (SPPCs)
  • Understand the legal authority associated with Disability Programs (Individual with Disabilities, Reasonable Accommodations, Targeted Disabilities)
  • Know the basic Human Resources actions (to include Program Planning) and the impact it has on the efforts to recruit, hire, advance, and retain persons with disabilities (SF 256)
  • Comprehend how Outreach and Marketing can impact the disability program
  • Comprehend how Workplace Emergency Procedures support Employees with Disabilities
  • Comprehend the foundation of the American with Disabilities Act (ADA) and associated Rehabilitation Act
  • Understand the basis of the Architectural Barriers Act (ABA)
  • Comprehend how (APEEO) Affirmative Programs (MD 715) can impact DoD capabilities and achieve mission readiness
