Description

Objective:

The course objective is to allow students to discuss the general physical security concepts; discuss physical security standards associated with the storage of classified information; identify common methods used to control access to and within a facility; identify the roles and components of physical security planning and implementation to include the components of the risk management model; define terrorist threat levels and force protection conditions and identify who establishes them; identify physical security planning documents, their purposes and physical security protective measures that should be incorporated into new and existing facility designs; demonstrate knowledge of physical security concepts and the various types of physical security measures available for implementing the physical protection of Department of Defense (DoD) assets; demonstrate knowledge of the various lock and key systems available for protecting DoD assets and best management practices for key control; apply best practices for use of security containers and facilities to protect classified national security information; identify the physical security requirements for secure rooms, vaults, and sensitive compartmented information facilities; identify storage requirements for arms, ammunition, and explosives facilities and nuclear weapons storage areas; and identify the purpose of oversight and the oversight tools.

  • Demonstrate comprehension of best practices for use of security containers and facilities to protect national classified information
  • Demonstrate comprehension of the concept of physical security as well as provides a brief overview of some of the physical security measures and their uses available for implementation in the protection of Department of Defense (DoD) assets
  • Demonstrate comprehension of the physical security measures available for implementation in the protection of DoD assets as well as the uses for and purposes of each type of physical security measure
  • Demonstrate comprehension of the concepts used in physical security planning and implementation
  • Demonstrate comprehension of the risk management approach implemented in DoD security programs
