The course objective is to enable the student to understand the personal risk management process and to apply that process to a detailed study of personal property-liability insurance exposures and coverage forms, and to understand the various factors that contribute to a positive result in insurance industry operations.

  • Describe the key components of underwriting profit/loss
  • Evaluate personal property and liability loss exposures, and through the use of the risk management process recommend risk management techniques, including the use of insurance, that could be used for dealing with those exposures

  • Explain what exposures are covered and what are limited or excluded under certain forms
  • Describe risk management techniques, other than insurance, that can be used to manage personal loss exposures
