Description

Objective:

The course objective is to prepare students for completion of Intrusion Detection, Level I. This course will introduce fundamental concepts for intrusion detection. Topics presented include terminology, magnetic contacts, motion sensors, glass break detectors, codes and standards associated with intrusion detection, and basic design of the system.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Describe the components of a security system and explain the difference between commercial and residential security systems
  • Describe specific applications and installation requirements for magnetic contacts
  • Understand the difference between commercial and residential design
  • Define the difference between microwave, Fresnel Lens, mirror/optic, and dual technology motion sensors 4.Identify how acoustic and shock frequencies detect the breaking of glass
  • Describe control panel specifications and user programming
