Description

Objective:

The course objective is to prepare students for completion of the First Year Substation Bundle. This is a three-year program of study with field experience for Journeyman status in the electrical construction industry.

Learning Outcomes:

  • apply mathematically skills to basic electrical
  • understand the Substation apprenticeship, learner responsibilities and conduct, and knowledge of the IBEW and NECA
  • understand the fundamentals of electricity and DC Circuits, knowledge of Ohm's Law and how it relates to voltage, current, resistance, and power
  • understand OSHA rules and regulations related to safety on the job
  • understand the tools and materials required for use in rigging and how to use hand signals
  • understand how to build a Substation, cable types, installation in a vault and/or manhole.
