Description

Objective:

To provide knowledge of the changing environment of purchasing, techniques to analyze corporate strategies, and techniques to examine traditional purchasing approaches. To provide the student with strategic purchasing concepts applicable in procurement actions throughout the USPS.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Examine Postal Service purchasing strategies and challenge those in need of change
  • Devise integrated purchasing approaches with customers and suppliers that work smoothly within the organization
  • Engage in strategic planning and purchasing, and display an understanding of the total supply management process. Upon successful completion of this course, experienced contracting officers will be able to formulate procurement policies and procedures
  • Investigate corporate and product strategies employed elsewhere to identify promising improvements
