Description

Objective:

The course objective is to introduce key concepts, terminology and safety program linkages associated with military operations with a focus on risk management. The concepts presented in this course will give the safety specialist the tools needed to enhance operations by assisting commanders to identify excessive risks in order to optimize risk management efforts within tactical operations.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Evaluate redeployment/reintegration safety considerations
  • Evaluate all aspects of base camp operations during training, the austere operational settings and unique environments
  • Identify hazards and develop risk management strategies for weapons and ammunition handling, fire hazards, electrical hazards, vehicle operation, environmental hazards, sanitation, and stress and fatigue considerations
  • Evaluate pre-deployment safety requirements in a tactical environment
  • Analyze tactical movement operations (rail and line haul operations, air lift operations, seaport operations, and convoy operations) and develop risk management strategies to reduce or mitigate hazards
  • Identify unsafe practices and risk associated with weapons, ranges and ammunition handling
  • Evaluate training plans for safety completion and accuracy
