Description

Objective:

To provide an overview of the health and safety concerns associated with biological agents and to enlighten students of the health risks, biosafety levels, and control when faced with these potential hazards.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Evaluate how to reduce or control personal exposures, such as universal precautions to biological agents
  • Discuss techniques in communicating the health risk to employees and the public
  • Be able to identify, define and assess the various, known or identified biological agents which employees encounter in the workplace and in day-to-day travels both in the continental USA and throughout the world
  • Identify means of primary, secondary, and biological (hood) equipment and describe application of biosafety principles with respect to the workplace
