Description

Objective:

The course objective is to enable the student to describe specific requirements in the OSHA 29 CFR 1926 standards that protect workers from common hazards associated with construction industry workplaces.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Analyze the differences between safety and health in the construction environment versus safety and health in other industries
  • Assess a job-site safety and health program by analyzing safe record-keeping practices, responsibilities of first-line supervisors, middle managers, and top management relating to effective safety practices and performances
  • Apply current research to design decisions and attitudes that affect construction environment safety
  • Relate the effects of the Occupational Safety and Health Act on the construction industry and the trends in safety performance
