Description

Objective:

The course objective is to provide students with an advanced approach to understanding safety and occupational health management system technology. The course provides students with the knowledge needed to implement critical occupational health and safety (OHS) management system guidelines and processes for establishing effective and efficient OHS management programs. Modern management practices are discussed and practical exercises allow the students to apply the newly learned technology to real life hazard scenarios.

  • Describe elements, guidelines and OSHA programs relating to safety and health programs
  • Describe applicable standards relating to walking and working surfaces and recognize possible violations of OSHA 29 Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) 1910.27
  • Describe methods and requirements for fire protection planning and recognize possible violations of OSHA 29 CFR 1910.155-165
  • Describe the hazards and precautions associated with machinery and recognize possible violations of OSHA 29 CFR 1910.211-212
  • Discuss the purpose and requirements of the hazard communication standard
  • Discuss hazards and standards related to electricity and identify possible violations of OSHA 29 CFR 1910.147
  • Discuss the requirements and safe working practices for welding operations
