Description

Objective:

The course objective is to provide agency fundamentals and basic technical skills for routing individuals in preparation for on -the-job training.

Learning Outcomes:

  • discuss the evolution of transportation security based on the terrorist threat
  • explain how TSA sets the standard for excellence
  • describe the Officer's workplace environment
  • identify general guidelines that apply to the screening of people and property
  • describe Risk-Based Security and how TSA assess risk
  • apply effective communication skills
  • describe characteristics of Command Presence
  • recognize prohibited items and items that are considered hazardous materials (HAZMAT)
  • perform TDC procedures
  • assist individuals with disabilities and medical conditions
  • identify the roles and responsibilities of the Divestiture Officer
  • identify the roles and responsibilities of the walk-through metal detector officer (WTMD)
  • discuss principles of critical thinking
  • recognize how to use countermeasures to combat possible manipulation attempts.
