Description

Objective:

The course objective for Part One is to review and apply the NSLS 9 Principles and Behaviors of Leadership Framework to their personal leadership approach; identify leadership passion, purpose, and values; learn how grit, goals, and resilience are integral to leadership; explore the concepts of diversity, equity, and inclusion and commit to being more intentionally inclusive leaders; and demonstrate the power to inspire others to action and make a positive impact in the world.
The course objective of Part Two is to practice leadership concepts in an experiential project with classmates, peers, or colleagues; use the leadership strengths and values identified in Part One and apply them to a community-focused team project; practice design thinking skills to identify a community challenge and brainstorm solutions; work on a team to develop a strategic plan that helps a defined audience; and practice advocating for their point of view, making decisions as a team, engaging in team dynamics, navigating conflict, giving and receiving constructive feedback, and committing to service and civic responsibility.
