Objective:

Upon successful completion of this course, participants will be able to apply proven methods for wastewater treatment.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Participants will be able to explain the importance of protecting water resources in the State of Texas.
  • Participants will be able to describe the role of the wastewater treatment plant operator in pollution control.
  • Participants will be able to discuss appropriate wastewater treatment based on bacterial, physical, and chemical characteristics.
  • Participants will be able to discuss the proper treatment of wastewater based on its source.
  • Participants will be able to discuss the complexity of a wastewater collection system.
  • Participants will be able to discuss the essentials of preliminary treatment and flow measurement.
  • Participants will be able to recognize the importance of sedimentation and the factors that affect it.
  • Participants will be able to discuss the fundamentals of the activated sludge process.
  • Participants will be able to recognize the purpose of fixed-film biological processes.
  • Participants will be able to discuss appropriate methods of pond stabilization.
