The course objective is to describe and analyze healthcare quality management processes. This course covers different quality measures, interconnection among healthcare branches and its impact on healthcare quality.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Upon completion of the course, the student will be able to define and describe health care quality outcomes, methods, models in the U.S, including statistical methods and models
  • Apply validity and reliability standards to outcomes research
  • Explain how finances, staff, human resources and risk management impacts healthcare quality and outcomes
  • And apply patient-centered approaches including healthcare consumerism as a means of improving healthcare quality.
  • Apply healthcare quality measurements, models, quality management, performance improvement and quality improvement measures and understand the context of the development of these tools
  • Differentiate among various outcome measures relating to patients, illnesses, costs, and quality
  • Incorporate health care technology and advances made in this area and how they have impacted and continue to change quality and outcome measures
