Description

Objective:

Upon the completion of this course, the student will be able to learn about electrical safety, communication systems, special elements, system operation and automation, overhead and underground line design, trouble investigation, crew leadership, and perform outside electrical construction activities under supervision

Learning Outcomes:

  • Apply electrical safety rules
  • Use mobile workforce management to handle communications systems
  • Monitor system using SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition System)
  • Use two-way radio in accordance with cooperative and FCC (Federal Communication Commission) regulations
  • Explain system protection and operations
  • Build overhead lines per RUS (Rural Utilities and Service) and NESC standards
  • Build underground lines under Miss Utility and standards
  • Perform outside electrical construction activities under supervision
  • Operate construction equipment
  • Complete mileage and safety reports
  • Exhibit crew leadership
