Description

Objective:

The course objective is to provide students with the knowledge and application skills to meet the requirements for watch keeping aboard a sea going vessel at the operational level for officers in charge of the navigational watch.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Properly apply the navigational rules
  • Maintain a watch in port
  • Understand and apply proper bridge team procedures
  • Understand and apply international and domestic pollution prevention requirements
  • Know the requirements for record-keeping and maintain a proper log book
  • Demonstrate knowledge of collision regulations, principles in keeping a navigational watch, and effective bridge teamwork procedures
