Description

Objective:

The course objective is to provide maritime personnel with the basic welding skills and knowledge of the routine maintenance skills required in the engine department upon sea-going vessels.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Perform basic preparation and welding techniques that may be required for routine maintenance aboard a sea-going vessel
  • Perform basic arc welding including Mig and Tig
  • Perform cutting procedures, including tacking, running a straight bead in a variety of situations, tee joint welds, and vertical and horizontal welds
  • Understand welding shop equipment and welding safety
