Objective:

To provide the student with a basic knowledge of anatomy and physiology.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Identify the different types of epithelial cells and where they are found in the body
  • Explain the main function and role of each organ within given systems
  • Discuss a basic overview of the common pathological conditions of each system
  • Use library resources to research current events occurring in this field of study
  • Pronounce, define, and spell related medical terminology with each body system
  • Discuss the structural levels of the human body
  • Identify body planes and cavities including the regions of the abdomino-pelvic cavity
  • Demonstrate anatomical positions and directional terms
  • Identify the basic structures of the major components of a cell, tissue, organ, and system
  • Earmark and identify the major organs of the musculoskeletal system
  • Explain the different laboratory tests, clinical procedures, and abbreviations pertaining to each given system
