Description

Objective:

To introduce students to basic computer concepts, types of computers and their uses in business medical applications and to teach practical computer/keyboarding skills.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Use library resources to research current events
  • Become proficient in the use of the computer keyboard
  • Identify parts of the computer and types of computer systems
  • Identify the uses of the computer system in a medical facility
  • Discuss a basic overview of outside computer services
  • Identify internal parts of the computer and hardware that can be added to the computer
  • Load a software program, format a diskette, make a backup copy, copy a document, edit a document and delete a document
  • Discuss ways to prevent repetitive injury trauma when using a computer
  • Gain speed and accuracy in typing skills
  • Use medical transcription software
