Description

Objective:

To provide instruction in basic medical terminology including correct pronunciation, spelling and definitions.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Define basic combining forms, prefixes and suffixes
  • Use the combining forms, prefixes and suffixes to build medical words
  • Identify organelles within a cell and cell types
  • Provide a basic overview of common pathological conditional of each system
  • Pronounce and define the vocabulary associated with each given system
  • Use medical abbreviations correctly
  • Divide medical words into their component parts
  • Correctly use directional, positional and descriptive terms
  • Correctly pronounce and spell medical terms
  • Correctly pluralize medical terms
  • Use library resources to research current events occurring in this field of study
