Description

Objective:

The course objective is to introduce general concepts and practical applications of nutrition. The course reflects an integration of scientific principles and how foods provide important nutrients that provide substance and energy for healthy living and disease management throughout the life span. An emphasis is given to nutrients and nutritional processes including functions, food sources, digestion, absorption, and metabolism. Food safety, availability, and nutrition information including food labels, advertising, and nationally established guidelines are addressed.
