Description

Objective:

Sophia's Spanish II course is designed to provide a continuation of Spanish I by introducing students to more complex verb tenses and grammatical structures. This course offers students the opportunity to build on their Spanish speaking, reading, and writing skills through both a linguistic and cultural lens, exploring the cultures and customs of several Spanish-speaking countries along with new vocabulary and sentence constructions for discussing home and work routines, travel and recreation, and events that have happened in both the recent and more distant past. It is highly recommended that students complete Spanish I prior to taking this course.

  • Describe different professions and work activities.
  • Discuss typical errands, including grocery and clothing shopping.
  • Express the occurrence of events related to travel and vacations in the preterite tense.
  • Describe popular tourist activities and cultural outings when traveling.

  • Express the occurrence of events related to health and wellness in the imperfect tense.
  • Discuss various mediums and methods of communication.
  • Distinguish between appropriate verb tenses and expressions for discussing news items.
