Description

Objective:

The course objective is to teach provide an overview of chemistry with topics that include development of chemistry and its modern applications, atomic structures, chemical bonding, chemical reactions and energy, states of matter, and hydrogen and carbon.

Learning Outcomes:

  • recall the history of scientific theories of chemistry and the modern atomic theory
  • interpret the periodic table of elements
  • recall the types of chemical bonds and reactions
  • construct chemical formulae and equations
  • describe basic energy concepts
  • recognize the dangers and uses of radioactivity and nuclear reactions
