Description

Objective:

The course objective is to present the scope and environment of finance for operations managers, including financial markets, interest rates, financial statements, cash flows, and performance evaluation; valuation of financial assets using time value of money and meaning and measurement of risk and return; capital-budgeting, cost of capital, capital structure, and dividend policy.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Enhance understanding and decision making effectiveness in financial performance analysis and evaluation, capital budgeting, cost of capital, dividend policy, capital structure, working capital management and international issues
  • Introduce financial issues, problems, and decisions confronting the manager
  • Develop ability to perform financial analysis through the application of concepts, methods and tools including financial performance evaluation using ratio analysis, measurement of cash flow, reading and interpreting financial statements, capital budgeti
  • Present a framework to understand, analyze, and generate solutions consistent with maximizing value of the firm
