Description

Objective:

In this first of a three part series, the student will be provided with an understanding of the current problem in the United States. The course will explore the social context of the 'drug problem;' will give understanding to the development of drug laws; and will provide a review of the nervous system and explore how it is affected through the actions of drugs.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Explain how our values influence out definition of the 'drug problem
  • Identify the major components of the nervous system
  • Identify four sources of drugs
  • Discuss major causes of concern regarding drug use
  • ' differentiate between direct and indirect dangers of drug use
  • Identify the international and national issues that contribute to the development of drug laws
