Description

Objective:

To provide students with the third of a three part series of an abnormal psychology course. To help students understand the makeup of psychological wellbeing and behavioral disorders as well as to examine the complex factors that cause behavioral disorders, looking at biological, psychological, and environmental influences.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Familiar with professional vocabulary describing psychological disorders
  • Identify disorders such as schizophrenia, behavioral, and organic mental disorders
  • Distinguish between functional and dysfunctional disorders
  • Be familiar with the types of psychotherapies used to treat psychological disorders such as psychdynamic, cognitive-behavioral, and experimental
