Description

Objective:

To provide students with the first of a three part series of an abnormal psychology course. To help students understand the makeup of psychological wellbeing and behavioral disorders as well as to examine the complex factors that cause behavioral disorders, looking at biological, psychological, and environmental influences.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Be familiar with professional vocabulary describing psychological disorders
  • Distinguish between functional and dysfunctional disorders
  • Contrast biological, psychological, and sociological factors to human behavior
  • Identify disorders such as posttraumatic stress, somatofoam, dissociative, and anxiety disorders
