Description

Objective:

To provide students with the third of a three part of an introductory level cultural anthropology Course. The Course will embrace cultures from all continents, highlighting major lifestyles, and illustrating human adaptation to environment from the beginnings of the human species to the present.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Familiar with the compelling problem of preserving the diversity of human cultures throughout the world
  • Familiar with the four major forms of political organization: bands, tribes, chiefdoms, and states as well as the religious traditions, beliefs and practices in the world
  • Will understand the variety of functions served by the arts within a culture and the many ways in which cultures can change
