Description

Objective:

The course objective is to use cost data in budgeting and capital planning for various types of manufacturing operations. Topics covered include timekeeping and payroll procedures, setting overhead rates, accounting for spoiled and defective goods, development of cost analysis, process cost accounting, and job-order cost accounting.

  • Describe fundamental cost accounting concepts and define basic cost behaviors
  • Identify the fundamentals of cost-volume profit (CVP) analysis and understand the effect of cost structure on decisions
  • Understand how to use and apply differential analysis to pricing and production decisions
  • Perform various cost estimation methods for planning purposes

  • Apply cost management fundamentals to add value
  • Allocate joint cost and service department costs using different methods to make decisions to sell goods or process them further
