Description

Objective:

The course objective is to develop the knowledge and skills necessary to effectively perform diver assists and rescues, manage diving accident situations and render first aid. Rescue Diver training expands the basic problem prevention and accident management skills divers learn beginning with the PADI Open Water Diver course. At the Rescue Diver level, divers are ready to learn to manage more complex dive emergencies and to apply direct intervention techniques to assist others in an emergency. Rescue Divers learn to look beyond themselves to consider the safety and well-being of other divers. This is why the PADI Rescue Diver certification is a prerequisite for all PADI leadership-level training.

demonstrate the correct procedures and techniques required to exit an unresponsive diver from the water both with and without assistance
demonstrate the correct procedures and techniques required to provide first aid for pressure-related injuries, including oxygen administration
demonstrate the correct procedures and techniques required to respond from shore/boat to an unresponsive (non-breathing) diver at the surface
demonstrate the correct procedures to manage a diving emergency by participating in an accident simulation involving a search for a missing unresponsive diver underwater and bringing the diver to the surface
