The course objective is to provide executives with a rich understanding of research design and its application to graduate level thesis development. The scope of this course is to provide the foundation for the Executive officer in leadership, ethics, research design, and data gathering practices.

Learning Outcomes:

  • to integrate leadership theory with transformative learning concepts
  • distinguish among research problems, approaches, designs, and methods; construct components of a literature review
  • propose a theoretical approach to research to include appropriate variables
  • compose components of a research proposal that demonstrates appropriate design, writing, and awareness of ethical issues
  • develop skills to create an introduction and purpose statement for a research problem
  • develop questions and hypotheses for research problems
  • simulate components of survey design and analysis;
  • assess the characteristics of a qualitative approach to research
