Objective:

The course objective is to enhance the capability of each participant to promote the technical measures and mitigation solutions to improve the hazard resiliency of our communities.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Understand the characteristics of natural hazards using the Hazard size and intensity classification system and the National and regional sources of monitoring and prediction information for each hazard
  • Identify the risk to the built environment due to multiple natural hazards and describe potential mitigation techniques
  • Describe hazard resistant design concepts and provisions in model building codes
  • Identify mitigation strategies and methods for each hazard
