Description

Objective:

The course objective is to enhance and strengthen student’s functional use of the language by stressing active language production and accuracy to cultivate a language analyst capable of excelling at more than passive tasks. Given authentic ILR Level 2+ reading and listening Persian passages on FLO topics and with the use of working aids, students should be able to demonstrate comprehension of the passages with at least 85% accuracy.

  • provide a gist of the texts after the initial reading
  • summarize the texts after 1-2 additional readings
  • predict vocabulary based on the topic
  • render translations in idiomatic English
  • decode meanings of figurative and idiomatic expressions and nuances using background knowledge
  • evaluate content-related questions about the passages
