Description

Objective:

The course objective is to minimize the mission readiness gap between the new DLI graduate and the Professional Language Analyst by refreshing students' linguistic skills, enhancing their socio-linguistic competence and subject-area knowledge, and increasing their overall proficiency.

  • Defend an opinion on a Latin American social or political issue in Spanish, by developing a detailed argument that includes supporting facts
  • Compare the sociolinguistic and discourse structure of debate in Spanish

  • Compose a journalistic-style English translation of a Spanish ILR Level 2+ text, using working aids
  • Produce a correct Spanish transcript of an authentic 1-2 minute audio passage at ILR Level 2+.
