The course objective is to enhance and strengthen the ILR Level 3 (General Professional Proficiency) student's functional use of the language by stressing active language production and accuracy to cultivate a language analyst capable of excelling at more than passive tasks. The primary objectives of the course include: listening and reading comprehension, transcription, translation, grammar fundamentals, and cultural awareness. Speaking and writing will be used to help reinforce acquisition of lexical and grammatical skills and as an ongoing assessment. The course curriculum contains a variety of authentic language materials focused on the Final Learning Objectives (FLO) content areas (military and security, economy and politics, science and technology, culture and society, and geography including physical, political, and economic).
