Description

Objective:

The course objective is to improve learner's professional proficiency in four language skills: listening, reading, transcription, and translation, as well as enhancing cultural awareness and promoting learners' critical thinking. The course exposes students to ILR Level 3 and above Russian authentic audio, video, and written texts composed by and made for native Russian speakers.

Learning Outcomes:

  • At an ILR level 3 standard, students will be able to analyze and categorize Essential Elements of Information (EEIs)
  • Create an English summary of an authentic Russian text
  • Compose a comprehensive translation of authentic Russian text
  • Produce an accurate transcript of an authentic fragment
  • Defend an opinion on a social or political issue, in Russian, by creating a detailed argument including supporting facts
