Objective:

The course objective is to provide students with the skills and knowledge to create and deliver effective oral presentations with confidence and limited verbal- and non-verbal distractions

Learning Outcomes:

  • describe techniques that can be used to connect with the audience
  • demonstrate using relevant visual aids to enhance briefings
  • name at least 3 things that can be used to reduce nervousness/anxiety prior to a brief
  • describe how and when the 5 Briefing Skills styles are used
  • prepare 5 of the briefing skill styles using the Anatomy of a Briefing method

  • Anatomy of a brief ("no-fail method")
  • Improving briefing delivery techniques
  • Verbal vs. non-verbal communications
  • The 5 briefing styles: impromptu briefing, informational briefing, scripted briefing, instructional/demonstration briefing, persuasive briefings (long/short)
