Description

Objective:

The course objective is for students to perform and execute human resource management duties such as recruiting, hiring, training, and retaining of personnel; maximizing efficiency and productivity in their programs; analyzing the different generations of our workforce and the relationship to our hiring practice; onboarding: establishing a realistic model to onboard new employees for a program or facility (which develops the partnership between supervisor and team member); creating realistic job standards; managing and evaluating performance; and describe and identify employee rights and the manager's responsibilities in relationship to Workers' Comp, Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO), and Labor Relations.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Write SMART job standards outlining how to meet and exceed the standard
  • Create an onboarding model to onboard new team members to their facility/program
  • Utilize techniques to coach and provide constructive feedback and discipline team members once they are on board as well as review the DA Forms used to provide a performance review or incentives for Team Members
  • Identify employee and employer responsibilities in the area of Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) and Workers' Compensation
  • Gain knowledge of hiring the right people for their positions and once hired how to coach and mentor their team members
  • Hire the right people into the positions for which they hire using generation information, assessment criteria, resume and interview matrices, and checking references
