Description

Objective:

To provide the student with current basic federal accounting concepts, principles, requirements, and practices, (2) to explain key federal laws, regulations, and other guidelines for proper control and accountability of federal funds, and (3) to present explanations and illustrations of federal budget and accounting events and transactions relating to appropriation and fund accounting.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to: (1) apply federal accounting, budget and financial management funds control concepts, standards, procedures, and practices, (2) record budgetary and proprietary accounting transactions in the financial and/or accounting system(s) (3) prepare general journal entries and adjusting/ accrual entries, the period-end trial balances and financial reports, and fiscal year-end financial statements, and (4) apply the 'T' account-posting concept as a tool to validate and reconcile relevant general ledger accounts
