Description

Objective:

To provide students with the skills to build on the current trend to make government documents clear, concise, and easy-to-understand.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Identify subtleties of audience analysis that can help strengthen the message
  • Shorten simplify, and strengthen messages while setting the appropriate tone
  • Apply not only the broad principles of writing that would be important to any message, but also the special techniques/considerations related to press releases, speeches, reports, and other specific forms of presentation
  • Effectively integrate audience analysis, writing purpose, and message content
  • Plan and organize the writing process as well as the individual messages
  • Identify and correct common writing errors
